Duloxetine hydrochloride USP
Eq. to Duloxetine 20 mg

Duloxetine is the serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used in the treatment of depressive disorders.

Indications & Usage

• Osteoarthritis
• Stress incontinence
• Anxiety disorders
• Pain in cancer, surgery

Mechanism of Action

Duloxetine increases the concentration of the serotonin and norepineprhine and enhances the activation of the glutamates receptor, it increases the activation of the 5HT2, 5HT3 also increases the activity of phospholipase CWhich then further increases the intercellular calcium, which causes the excitability of neuron.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption- Duloxetine is absorbed orally
Protein binding– It is mainly bound to the alpha-1 acid glycoprotein and albumin
Metabolism– It undergoes glucuronide conjugation
Excretion- It is excreted via feces

• Constipation
• Sleepiness

Contraindications

Contraindicated in cross angle glaucoma
